The Project

The purpose of this year’s Baja Team is to construct a vehicle capable of placing first in the 2013 SAE Baja competition. The goal of this competition is to simulate real-world engineering design projects and their related challenges. Our Baja team must engineer, build, test, analyze, promote, fundraise, and compete with a vehicle that conforms to the strict rules of the competition. Each team will be judged based on various criteria including design, presentation, cost, and performance. From stress analysis to engineering economics to project management,  this capstone project is the culmination of what our teammates,  consisting of mostly senior mechanical engineering students, have learned here at Binghamton University.
